About Me
I am currently a Master's candidate at the City University of New York's Graduate School of Journalism, a program that trains students in all aspects of convergent media. At CUNY, I am focusing on interactive and new media, as well as honing skills in long-form composition, in order to pursue a career as an international freelancer. Since October 2009, I have also been interning with the nationally-syndicated news show "The Takeaway" based at WNYC. From June-August 2010, I will be reporting with the Haitian Times at their Port-au-Prince bureau.
I grew up in Missouri, Montana and, most recently, Nebraska. I came to New York City in 2002 to pursue my B.A. in History and French at NYU, which included a year abroad in Paris. After college, I taught elementary school music in the South Bronx to grades K-4 for a year, then worked at an international law firm in midtown as an assistant. My journalistic interests include arts and cultural exchange, religion, urban environments, and international affairs. Follow me on Twitter!
