In February, I appeared on the CUNY-TV news magazine program, "219 West."&nbsp; I was interviewed about my experiences visiting Haiti in the aftermath of the devastating January earthquake and about some of the images I took and the people I met while I was there.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; In the same episode, a segment I helped report and produce ("Bird [...] ]]></description><content:encoded><![CDATA[<div  class="paragraph" style=" text-align: justify; ">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; In February, I appeared on the CUNY-TV news magazine program, "219 West."&nbsp; I was interviewed about my experiences visiting Haiti in the aftermath of the devastating January earthquake and about some of the images I took and the people I met while I was there.<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; In the same episode, a segment I helped report and produce ("Birds or Ballfields?") was also run.&nbsp; The segment is about the Ridgewood Reservoir, a natural wetlands and forest acreage in Queens which is under consideration by Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the Parks department for conversion into baseball fields and recreational facilities.<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; For years, Wengler has been composing and singing songs about Coney Is [...] ]]></description><content:encoded><![CDATA[<div  class="paragraph" style=" text-align: left; ">Amos Wengler has lived in Coney Island or nearby for most of the last four and a half decades.&nbsp; His family emigrated from Israel in 1962, when he was 17, and moved into one of the towers built by <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/1999/06/26/nyregion/fred-c-trump-postwar-master-builder-of-housing-for-middle-class-dies-at-93.html" target="_blank">Fred Trump</a>.<br /><br /> For years, Wengler has been composing and singing songs about Coney Island, from songs about the <a href="http://www.nathansfamous.com/PageFetch/getpage.php?pgid=38" target="_blank">hot dog eating contest</a> to the &ldquo;polar bears&rdquo; (a local club of people who <a href="http://www.polarbearclub.org/" target="_blank">swim in the ocean</a> during the winter).
